Children encouraged to wonder, ask questions and explore…

Early Childhood Curriculum K-1

The Kindergarten to Year 1 early learning program is founded on the social constructivist theory and the Early Years Learning Framework. The curriculum content is responsive to the children’s interests and based on a combination of the National Australian Curriculum and the Western Australian Curriculum Framework.

A balanced approach to teaching and learning, using play-based pedagogy is used to engage and empower children, and explicit intentional teaching used to focus on literacy, numeracy and scientific investigation skills. Learning occurs through sustained shared thinking, active investigation, listening and responding to children and making learning visible. From Kindergarten, our children are encouraged to wonder, ask questions and explore to strive to understand the world around them. Students in pre-primary and year 1 are engaged in The Arts through a developmental music and drama education program. Kindergarten students are also engaged in fun and creative music making that forms the basis of the ongoing music program for future years.
